What's changed?
I'm calling the Docs and Guides "good enough" for the first release. All the important guides are fully written. While they are short, and still lack the cross references to the man pages, that will be easy to sort out once the code goes public and the man pages also get published on the Docs website. That stuff is a technicality. There will be a lot of in-depth docs for almost everything.
I wrote earlier this week about reproducibility being an issue. It was, but only in the sense that rebuilding everything with the last builder code will almost straightforwardly fix all the issues. The root causes were things like an added implied dependency causing every manifest to list an extra dep item. Any package with the old builder thus doesn't match the new builder output. Since none of it is public yet, the rebuilds are near zero impact, but, they do bring our reproducibility up.
Our preliminary reproducibility statistics right now are:
- 1731 unique packages tested
- 3 do not reproduce
- 3 have errors
The 3 that have errors are due to e.g. blktrace's source domain's TLS certificate being expired - the downloader refuses to download it until that is fixed, and for some reason I didn't have a cache copy.
So there you have it - our reproducibility rate right now is 99.65%. Hopefully that gets cleared up today/tomorrow and we'll be at 100%.
What's next
One good crack at wrapping up open issues from the final code review pass. And then stop worrying about things I'd like to tack along. I keep reminding myself to write stuff I've been postponing down, but I'm afraid I start using it as an excuse to delay publishing everything :).
